Industrial isolation & flange assembly

Find the right fit for your operation.

Explore Model Y valve applications, from integrated blind-plate isolation to metering, storage and equipment maintenance. For bolted connections, discover how MTE coordinates flange tightening.

Core application strengths

Emergency duty starts long before the trip.

Blowdown valves must remain sealed while closed. Shutdown valves must move reliably after long periods open. Model Y addresses both duties through solid metal barriers and friction-free ball rotation.

Normally closed → Open on demand

Emergency blowdown

A blowdown valve may remain closed for most of its service life, opening only when emergency depressurization is required. Its everyday job is therefore sustained isolation, followed by dependable opening on demand.

Model Y integrates two solid metal plates designed to provide blind-plate-level sealing. Mechanically forced engagement holds the barriers against stationary seats; the plates retract before the ball rotates open. This combines the sealing objective of a blind plate with the operating convenience of a valve.

Application value

Long-duration closed-state isolation, followed by controlled opening to the designated blowdown or flare system.

Normally open → Close on demand

Emergency shutdown (ESD)

An ESD valve may remain fully open for an extended period before it must close. In designs where the ball rotates against loaded seats, seat friction and lubricant condition can affect breakaway and operating torque after a long idle period.

Model Y keeps the sealing surfaces clear during ball rotation. This removes ball-to-seat rubbing from the rotational stroke, addressing that source of friction-related torque rise. Once the ball reaches the closed position, the mechanism engages both solid metal plates to establish blind-plate-level sealing.

Application value

Friction-free ball rotation for the closing stroke, followed by mechanically forced sealing for sustained isolation.

BridgeFlow internal comparative testing

Six months of pressure-holding comparison.

BridgeFlow has conducted comparative sealing tests between its valve and a blind plate, including a six-month pressure-holding test. BridgeFlow reports that its valve delivered better sealing performance than the blind-plate comparator under the tested conditions.

This is a manufacturer-reported result for the tested configuration. Contact BridgeFlow to discuss the test conditions, comparison method and relevance to your duty.

For either emergency duty, the complete valve and actuator package is matched to the required response time, fail position, available power, process differential pressure and system verification requirements.

Mechanized Ball Valve

One design. A range of isolation duties.

Two solid metal plates in one body bring blind-plate isolation and the functionality of two rising-stem ball valves into a standard ball-valve installation length.

01 / Valve applications

Maintenance & plant isolation

Bring blind-plate isolation and double-barrier shutoff into a compact valve assembly.

Positive isolation

Model Y was developed around two solid metal plates, each designed to serve as the equivalent of an isolation blind, inside one valve body. It makes deploying and withdrawing these barriers as convenient as valve operation.

Selection focus

Required isolation standard, barrier verification, venting and the site’s maintenance procedure.

DBB / DIB arrangements

The design functionally combines two rising-stem ball valves in one body, with mechanically forced sealing and a cavity that can be vented or drained. This supports applications requiring two sealing barriers and a means of checking isolation.

Selection focus

Pressure direction, required DBB or DIB arrangement, individual seal verification and cavity pressure management.

Process-unit isolation

At process-unit boundaries, an integrated assembly can reduce the space and operating steps associated with separate isolation components. API 6D standard ball-valve face-to-face dimensions also support replacement of matching standard valves.

Selection focus

Existing piping dimensions, line-break procedures, trapped inventory, drain connections and manual or powered operation.

02 / Valve applications

Metering & product switching

Manage repeated switching where leakage can affect measurement or product segregation.

Metering & calibration

Mechanical sealing applies force directly at the seats, making it relevant to meter proving and calibration where differential pressure may be low. The plates retract before ball rotation to reduce rubbing during frequent switching.

Selection focus

Minimum and maximum differential pressure, switching cycles, leakage acceptance and the calibration or proving sequence.

Multi-product manifolds

Frequent changeovers require dependable separation between product streams. Two sealing barriers, cavity bleed capability and mechanically forced sealing provide a basis for reviewing product-segregation duties.

Selection focus

Media compatibility, acceptable cross-contamination, flushing and draining, actuator interlocks and remote indication.

03 / Valve applications

Storage & product transfer

Support reliable isolation through frequent transfer cycles and changes in flow direction.

Tank isolation

Tank inlet and outlet valves must separate stored product from transfer piping. Retracting the plates before rotation limits sliding contact at the sealing surfaces, while the dual-barrier arrangement supports isolation checks.

Selection focus

Tank and line pressures, bidirectional duty, product compatibility, cavity drainage and operating frequency.

Loading & unloading

Repeated fuel or product transfers place high demands on cycling and shutoff. Friction-free ball rotation separates movement from seal engagement, helping address wear associated with repeated operation.

Selection focus

Pump pressure, required opening and closing time, surge behaviour, actuator sizing and transfer-system controls.

Transportation isolation

Rail, truck and marine transfer systems often combine limited installation space with frequent operation. The integrated body and non-rising stem make Model Y relevant where the installation envelope is constrained.

Selection focus

Available space, piping loads, vibration, mounting orientation and the requirements of the transport installation.

04 / Valve applications

Gas processing & rotating equipment

Match isolation performance, materials and cavity management to the process duty.

Pump & compressor inlet / outlet isolation

Two mechanically engaged barriers can support isolation of pumps and compressors for maintenance. The full-bore passage provides an unobstructed flow path when open, and the cavity arrangement can support controlled venting or draining.

Selection focus

Fluid composition, design pressure and temperature, pressure reversal, drainage and the equipment-isolation sequence.

Amine filtration & gas processing

Filter maintenance calls for repeatable shutoff in service that may involve sour gas, amine or contaminants. Materials, seal selection and access for draining are central to the configuration review.

Selection focus

Chemical compatibility, sour-service requirements, solids, operating cycles and verification before maintenance.

Molecular sieve switching — application review

Adsorption and regeneration cycles can combine frequent switching with substantial temperature changes. Separating seal engagement from rotation is relevant to this duty, but the complete thermal cycle must be evaluated. High-temperature regeneration service requires a specifically qualified configuration.

Selection focus

Adsorption and regeneration temperatures, thermal transitions, gas composition and the required design and validation programme.

05 / Valve applications

Pipeline & fuel distribution

Combine passage requirements with verifiable section isolation.

Pigging service

A full-bore flow path can accommodate pigs when the complete valve configuration is designed for the duty. The piggable version must be selected against the actual pig geometry and pipeline conditions.

Selection focus

Pig type and clearance, bore continuity, debris, installation orientation and sealing configuration.

Airport fuel-hydrant isolation

Section-by-section isolation supports fuel-network testing and leak location, often within short maintenance windows. Mechanically forced sealing, seal verification and a compact non-rising-stem arrangement are relevant to this work.

Selection focus

Fuel compatibility and cleanliness, test pressure, section-testing procedure, access and operating frequency.

06 / Valve applications

Offshore & emergency isolation

Bring long-duration sealing and friction-free ball rotation to emergency isolation and offshore duties.

FPSO & offshore process isolation

Limited space and difficult maintenance access make an integrated dual-barrier valve relevant to offshore process systems. Retracting the plates before ball rotation reduces rubbing at the sealing surfaces during repeated operation.

Selection focus

Corrosion exposure, materials, weight and space limits, drainage, actuation and project qualification requirements.

Emergency shutdown (ESD)

Following extended periods fully open, the valve must close on demand. Model Y keeps the sealing surfaces clear during rotation, removing ball-to-seat rubbing from the closing stroke. Both solid metal plates then engage mechanically to provide blind-plate-level sealing.

Selection focus

Long-idle operating torque, required closing time, actuator margin, fail position and verification of fully engaged sealing plates.

Emergency blowdown

Normally closed blowdown valves need sustained sealing throughout standby and dependable opening during an emergency. Model Y integrates two solid metal barriers for blind-plate-level sealing, then retracts them before rotating to open the flow path.

Selection focus

Standby leakage requirements, opening time, fail position, depressurization duty and compatibility with the blowdown or flare system.

The two sealing plates share a common operating mechanism. The isolation arrangement, verification method and site acceptance requirements are confirmed for the selected configuration.

MTE™ / Bolted connections

Flange assembly with coordinated tightening.

Explore the MTE™ system ↗

MTE connects multiple tightening heads to a single drive input. The system automatically directs torque to the bolt with the least resistance. As the torque required to turn that bolt rises, it shifts torque to the next loosest bolt.

Applications include new flange assembly, maintenance reassembly and repeated bolted-joint work where reducing tool repositioning and coordinating tightening can improve the workflow.
